Edify Adventure Trip 2016

Once a year the Edify team goes on an adventure trip to relax and have a great time all together.

This year we went to the Rainforest Adventures Costa Rica Atlantic park located 30 minutes after the Zurquí tunnel.

Everyone woke up early and got there before 8am. We had a delicious breakfast with one of the bestgallo pintosthat I have ever tried. At 9am we started our adventure by going through 11 Canopy lines. One of the most memorable one was a 700 meters long zipline that lasted more than 60 seconds to go through. We also had the opportunity to jump on a 60 minutes aerial tram trip thru the rainforest and got to see birds, snakes, different species of trees and even a big sloth scratching his b$%&s while hanging from a tree branch 🙂

After lunch we had a tour guide show us the different frogs and snakes that lives on the park. Afterwards, we headed back home but had a pit stop in a Bar in San Isidro of Heredia called “Las Juntas” where we closed our Edify Adventure Trip 2016 with some beers and tastybocas”.

These kind of activities are a way to sayThank you!” to everyone at Edify for being part of our team!

Lets start planning our 2017 Adventure!  #lindoEdify

Edify sponsors and organizes NodeSchool International Day in Costa Rica.

On May 21st, NodeSchool Day was celebrated all around the globe and one of the largest NodeJS workshops was held in Costa Rica. Attendance numbers were at an all-time high for an event of this kind in the Latin American region.

NodeSchool.io is a global effort to teach Node.js and JavaScript to anyone through hands-on workshops run by volunteers. Interactive modules help attendees learn by writing code and resolving problems under the guidance of mentors strongly willing to help.

This event was organized by CostaRicaJS, La404, and Edify, as part of our strong commitment to the JavaScript community and our wish to further improve the technical level in our region.

Thanks to the mentors from our staff that helped so many people during and after the event, and thanks to the sponsors who helped us achieve this important goal.

A picture tells more than a thousand words and a video tells more than a thousand pictures, so here’s a quick overview of the event:

Edify now in a Free Trade Zone – from idea to reality in 9 months

On September 9th 2015 we at Edify decided to move to a Free Trade Zone. It took us just 9 month to bring that idea to life!

Edify is an established software development and consulting firm providing high-quality, cost-effective solutions to the educational technology sector. Our company’s many successful experiences in software architecture, design and development work have allowed us to forge long-term business relationships with our customers. We are proud to work with publishers, educational institutions, edtech firms and startups alongside the likes of Kaplan, Hotchalk, Macmillan Education, Gooru, Edready by NROC, American Public University and many more of today’s most interesting ventures in education technology.

Since Edify started in 2011, we’ve had more than 30 clients in the US educational industry with an average of 3 years per client. All of our clients are US based. Edify owes its success to a highly talented and motivated team of +36 (70% Developers, 20% QA and 10% Sales & Admin) working under a solid Agile methodology.

In September 2015 we took the decision to move the company to a Free Trade Zone so we started analysing all the available FTZ Buildings in Costa Rica and ran a crossover analysis taking into account financial aspects like the cost per m2 but also cultural aspects like the distance to all the employees current houses so that we reduce the pain of long commute times; this is a perfect example of the culture we have and fight to maintain in the company! Employees first!

The result of the new office is amazing. We were able to put our culture in the office design with open spaces to promote collaboration and teamwork, no offices just meeting rooms, different ambiances for different moods or personalities, open kitchen so we can eat, drink and celebrate in a big open space, several personal quiet rooms so anyone can take a call or have some personal quiet time, a wonderful view of a river with no buildings visible from our windows, an area with artificial grass that looks like you’re working in park and much more! Sounds too good to be truth? I invite you to visit our offices and have a look at our company, culture and work.
