Edify now in a Free Trade Zone – from idea to reality in 9 months
On September 9th 2015 we at Edify decided to move to a Free Trade Zone. It took us just 9 month to bring that idea to life!
Edify is an established software development and consulting firm providing high-quality, cost-effective solutions to the educational technology sector. Our company’s many successful experiences in software architecture, design and development work have allowed us to forge long-term business relationships with our customers. We are proud to work with publishers, educational institutions, edtech firms and startups alongside the likes of Kaplan, Hotchalk, Macmillan Education, Gooru, Edready by NROC, American Public University and many more of today’s most interesting ventures in education technology.
Since Edify started in 2011, we’ve had more than 30 clients in the US educational industry with an average of 3 years per client. All of our clients are US based. Edify owes its success to a highly talented and motivated team of +36 (70% Developers, 20% QA and 10% Sales & Admin) working under a solid Agile methodology.
In September 2015 we took the decision to move the company to a Free Trade Zone so we started analysing all the available FTZ Buildings in Costa Rica and ran a crossover analysis taking into account financial aspects like the cost per m2 but also cultural aspects like the distance to all the employees current houses so that we reduce the pain of long commute times; this is a perfect example of the culture we have and fight to maintain in the company! Employees first!
The result of the new office is amazing. We were able to put our culture in the office design with open spaces to promote collaboration and teamwork, no offices just meeting rooms, different ambiances for different moods or personalities, open kitchen so we can eat, drink and celebrate in a big open space, several personal quiet rooms so anyone can take a call or have some personal quiet time, a wonderful view of a river with no buildings visible from our windows, an area with artificial grass that looks like you’re working in park and much more! Sounds too good to be truth? I invite you to visit our offices and have a look at our company, culture and work.
